Euangelia for Summer

(Euangelia, photo by Natasha Andreou)

Euangelia's summer collection is being showcased at Occhi Concept Store until the 3rd of June. Euangelia creates unique, one-off pieces. Dresses can be worn from both sides, with details that allow each piece to take a new form and shape on the body. I think it's great this time she's going for vibrant colours. See all styles at Occhi's website - Collections.

Tell A Story - Euangelia

Fashion weeks' news caught up with me and my TaS reports had to be interrupted. Designers' work though doesn't stop once an exhibition is over. Here's what Euangelia is up to:
Apart from her being so imposing in her full bum dresses, she always incorporates great details in her designs whether that's a tight knot, a puffy sleeve or an unusual slash-cut. She always has my attention, but this time I had to ask:

Do you follow fashion trends at all?
Not at all. My work is timeless and for those who feel like wearing something different to the uniform shapes suggested each season. Special doesn't always mean 'special occassion', although I have many orders of this nature too.
What's with the big bum?
I love Renaissance figures, voluptuous and rounded. Clothing in that era was an obvious extention of the personality and today these shapes can be considered as classics. Obviously, I feel comfortable wearing a big bum and contrary to any worries that it makes a naturally big bum look even bigger, it actually camouflages it. However, this effect is achieved by an added tutu-like skirt which comes seperately. They can be worn like any other regular dress without it.

In these beautiful shapes you could be making some seriously avant-garde wedding dresses. Have you considered it?
Well somebody has! I have some orders at the moment and I tell you, these brides are going to be too cool.
What's new with you otherwise?
I am soon moving to a bigger atelier with fellow designers Ioli & Mirella. We are staying in the area of Psurri though, we all like it there.

Euangelia's dresses are unique. No, seriously, each piece is made only once and the proud owner is the sole owner. Too good? It's true. And the prices are even better!

Xmas Shopping Sunday

It maybe a cold, rainy Sunday tomorrow, but some of the hottest xmas shopping events are scheduled to take place in town and bring some sunshine to your gifts' list - or simply your closet!

Gift inspiration, wine, browsing and a 15% off all purchases are on the menu of numerous shops in Psirri area which will be open especially this Sunday for your convenience and pleasure. Those are:

Formika design store (Pallados 9 - 210.3234636)
Occhi (Sarri 35 - 210.3213298)
Mofu (Sarri 28 - 210.3311922)
Euangelia (Aristofanous 15. 4th floor - 6972533664)

Shopping activity will be taking over the Mets area too:

Sugar Line Productions, the most fun, retro-pop accessories brand around, is throwing and xmas shopping party at its headquarters, Trivonianou 42-44 (Mets). Music and munchies will be keeping the spirits high whilst you go down memory lane and ...choose which part you'd like to immortalise is the shape of a very skillfully crafted necklace or barcelet.

A couple of blocks down the road, Psarokokalo is hosting an open day at 8 Kosma Balanou str. Unique, fresh and funky items extend beyond clothes and accessories and promise to add the nicest touch of original, limited edition design to your home too.

Apart from Psarokokalo, designers participating are Taxis+Quat, Lacravate du Chien, Evrydiki and Efig. Very exciting detail: they will all be handcrafting on the spot personalised gifts & toys.

*For the facebook events pages, click on the images above.

Other stuff going on are noted and posted by Battered Couture, here and THE1015LAB, here.

Keep checking my right column for latest additions (all images linked to the events, click-click!). The closer we move to Christmas, the more exciting bazaars are listed.
Oh, joy!

Have a lovely, successful & merry shopping weekend;)

AXDW - till next season

This was the last photo taken at the 6th AXDW (literally): in the centre, organizer Tonia Fouseki among colleagues, designers and models who stayed on the spot till the very last minute.

I always enjoy AXDW because it never promises more than it actually delivers, and it delivers well. Nice touches are the fact that it chooses to support a cause (this season was awareness about the modernist era buildings in Athens), the choice of space (megaron ethnikis asfalistikis), the informative booklet (designers contacts and bio) as well as the parallel events (best fm live casts) and it's lounge, small enough so that everyone gets to meet each other and mingle.

I am not going to go into details of shows I liked the most and so on. I think when I particularly liked a show, I made it clear the way I did for FWA shows. At the end of the day, a successful collection is marked by how well it sells rather than how nice a catwalk was. Time will tell! Before finishing this last post on AXDW for a while, here are some photos of people I never got the chance to post before. Till next season!

Doukas Hatzidoukas, a blonder version of him. Always a fan of his work.

Theia who is model-like herself, on the left, Evangelia on the right and... not sure who (sorry:)) in the centre!

Stelios Koudounaris showing off Evelina Papantoniou's gorgeous back.

Costume designer Marli Aleiferi, soon to leave Athens for Crete for the filming of mega channel's new mega-production, "The Island".

Celebrity Skin Dimitris Strepkos (far right) in his best Hollywood smile.

Soho Symposium Hari K. in total black. Well almost!

Fashion Architect Lopi in brighter shades of grey and...

...eye-candy shoes, looking ever so comfy:)

AXDW - day1, faces

As long as catwalks are on, I have no hope for a good rest. Well neither have they! All looking radiant and fresh tonight, here they are, faces my lence loves to capture:

Designers Euangelia, Ioli and Mirella. (yes, the first two were showing last month at Tell a Story tradeshow)

"Born to be famous" reads Ioli's bag, and indeed she deserves to be, even though she carries this bag for convenience rather than a statement...

Alex Kavdas (MTV VJ), Constantinos Kalfakakos (MAD TV VJ) and Elektra (Rockets in a Coma) in über cool lace tights and cropped gloves.

Ex-model Vicky Koulianou. Always gorgeous and imposing, with her attention in her own fashion line these days.

Matisse lead singer Alex Kavvadias. Revealed the group will be performing live at Stavros tou Notou every second Monday as of November the 9th. Already in my agenda.

Christiana from Fashion Paths, always ready to...shoot!

Lopi from Fashion Architect, in this photo right behind Alex Kavvadias and about to tweet the latest from the soon-to-begin show.

Designer Dimitri Zafiriou in total black and an amazing selection of ethnic bangles in earthy colours.

Kostantinos Dagritzikos all sophisticated next to Vicki from Ermou.gr, and the DElight girls, Evi and Daphne surrounding friend Stellina.

Fox Fair Finds - Euangelia

Euagelia in action. The young designer, styling a visitor in person. Her exhaggerated bum attire stole the show without a doubt. I thought her silicone covered brooches were special. More on Euangelia, here.

Euangelia (TellAStory)

What made Tell-A-Story all the more interesting, was bumping into Euangelia's dresses. Volume in interesting shapes, worn on a manequin with the legs of a table was an eye-catcher as it was. The fact that the dress came in perfect seems and easy-to-wear line was a bonus.
She told me her designs have no age, anyone can wear them. "My designs are alternative, for people who are different. They are made for those who know how to wear clothes without letting the actual clothes wear the people". (nicely put, thank you). Euangelia's signature is as unique and intriguing as the clothes she does: dresses, skirts, girls + boys tees that can be worn inside out. And you can be sure they are all literally unique, made once so you can be the proud owner of something none else posesses. Loving it...
Face to the name: designer Euangelia on the left, posing with director Stella (centre) and Athens Voice' Sandra (right).
Euangelia's rail. Beautiful, warm colours, unusual shapes and carefully selected fabrics. In this shot, she's preparing one of her handmade business cards (see bottom of this post).
Staring at Miss T's lence for Global Hipster's shoot at the very hip w.c. of Bios.
She's been designing for the last 3 years which would tag her as "fresh" but also long enough to show she's not another enthusiastic passer-by.

According to Tell-A-Story's release, she has "collaborated with well-known fashion designers and photographers at TV shows, advertisements, fashion shows as well as custom design in theatrical place". She has already presented her work at Athens Xclusive and Fashion Forward.
Miss T and Mr S at work. Mr S did this shooting in oldskool proper film. Pics soon to be posted on their blog. Looking forward to that.
Fun details: Euangelia's newspaper wrapped bangles, Miss T's and Euangelia's boots, bottom left and top respectively.
This is Euangelia's official business card, hand-written on the spot by her, on pieces of magazine pages. Kinda cool, no?.

You can try Euangelia's unique designs at her atelier in Psurri, Aristofanous 15 but also at:
-Occhi in Sarri str., Psurri
-Suonsi in Pagkrati
-Buy Me Gallery in Korinthos

Her clothes retail between 100 - 200 euros, excellent prices for non-mass, signature pieces of such stitching.

Note this name, you'll soon be coming across it too often.
