Grazia UK - a live fashion issue

‘Grazia Fashion Issue…Live!’ will be the first truly interactive, social experiment ever undertaken by a print product – accessible across all Grazia’s platforms, including graziadaily.co.uk, YouTube, Twitter and Facebook. (release)

And this is the reason it's among my posts. It is clear to me lately that 'episodes' is the... new black for fashion reporting. However this is the first time an international title of this scale is "
handing over the editing reins to fans by giving them the chance to comment, influence and vote on the editorial selection process in a live, social publishing event – even down to the cover shot".

The 'episodes' will be daily films featuring behind-the-scenes insights on both NY and London Fashion Weeks. These are expected to go live on February 13th at graziadaily.co.uk and the whole project, shaped by readers' votes and online commenting, will result to a 264 page issue out on stands on February 21st.

It was clear that fashion reporting would never be the same since the first fashion blogger sat on the front row. This is much bigger though, regardless of who's brave enough to take the first bite. I am so looking forward to the outcome. And what's to follow / who's to follow it.

Mi lajki / Style Factory - episodes

On February 1st, and during Swedish Fashion Week, Mi lajki's Style Factory begins the quest for a shiny styling star. Mi lajki is a Swedish creative community on a mission 'to make the world more colourful'. Nine international contestants have been assigned to bring forward unique interpretations of their stories in three different Mi lajki themes. It will all unravel in a series of 10 online episodes* and the winner gets to walk out with a 50.000 euro* contract to create his own jewelry collection. 50% of the vote will come from the judges whereas the other half by the viewers. You can watch it all here.

*'online episodes, 50.000 euro prize, contract' is becoming a pattern for the Swedish Fashion Week this season. Following the process via online episodes is a new reality too. Reality tv, documentary, open process, a kick start for young talent, call it what you like. It is interesting, it is happening, it's on your screen.

--------------------------------------
On February 1, it is time for the first episode of Mi lajki Style Factory at nelly.com. During the 10 episodes of our style factory we will follow the nine stylists led by Mi lajkis star stylist Alexis Knox - known stylist from both London and Milan's major fashion shows. Each stylist is assigned a specially designed Mi lajki jewelry as they should interpret and create acreationism around. The winner gets a coveted contract with Mi lajki to a value of € 50 000.(milajki.com)

Holy Mustache Birthday Bazaar

Holy Mustache and Stella Veentaz are planning a 'One Year Birthday Celebration' in Thessaloniki, from Thursday 19/1 till Sunday 22/1. They promise a four-day bazaar of rare and affordable treasures 'for your pleasure and collection'. It will all take place at Ladoze / Toss Gallery, 1 Vilara str. May I note that vintage clothes are about the label and country of manufacturing and not just the looks. How many 'made in Greece / France / U.S.A.' have you seen lately?

Indie band Tall Ships faces of new collection

Fashion clips go beyond designer houses and fashion comes all the closer to music. Phenomenon pictured well in this clip where indie band Tall Ships sports the new Label Lab menswear collection for House of Fraser. The new collection has been launched exclusively at selected House of Fraser stores in the UK and online.

The look is described as edgy, slim, distressed, and macabre, in a monochromatic colour palette featuring mainly greys, blacks and neutrals. Tall Ships were selected as the ideal faces and sound to project this as well as a "cool" menswear image.

Note 'Fashion + Music' under your major come-back column.

Nike FREE s/s 11 - video+news

Good news if you are a runner - in any way. Nike presents three technologically advanced models, Nike Free TR Fit, Nike Free XT Quick Fit+ and Nike Free Everyday Fit+, designed to improve your performance. Apparently you can choose among three levels of elasticity Nike Free 3.0, Nike Free 5.0, and Nike Free Run+ which is pretty close to custom-made for your kind of running activity.

The video is brief but gets the message across: in Nike Free you could be flying. Haven't tried them on yet, but I will. It's Spring, I fancy flying.

Images below from Nike - Be Free presentation at Psychiko flagship store last Tuesday.

Know-How has a new website

Know-How has a new website and a sales clip. To celebrate its new home online, it's come up with a special collaboration with eshop buldoza.gr which gets to sell the clip's outfits exclusively for the web.

The brand has been around since 1994 and it is one of the very few that still manage to produce locally. Its own eshop will be ready sometime in Spring. If you'd like to be among the first to be notified of its arrival, you'll find a special box on the website to leave your email for a timely alert.

Martini Gold by Dolce & Gabbana

I went to the movies tonight and though I have nothing to say on the movie itself, I found the opening commercial quite interesting. Here's Martini Gold by Dolce & Gabbana, starring Monica Bellucci and with the designer duo in guest appearence:

Then there's also this BTS clip where director Jonas Akerlund gives a lot of info on how and why this fashion video was made, saying amongst it all that it's drink and fashion in equal measures.

And if you want to know it all, Domenico & Stefano speak about their point of view, their love for Martini (possibly the fuel behind some of their inspiration?) as well as the fact that to them, both their brand as well as the drink are a way of life.

Miu Miu's 'Powder Room'

A lot of action fashion film-wise.
Miu Miu has just released the first fashion film of a scheduled series, where 'distinctive female filmakers with different intellectual background explore their feminine love affair' with the brand. It's called 'Powder Room', directed by Zoe Cassavetes and shot at Claridges hotel in London. Genius concept. For BTS material as well as keeping an eye on who's next, visit miumiu.com.

Holy 2010

Most of you know Holy Mustache by now, whether because you've attended his vintage recycling bazaars, seen him on mags or you've previously read this. He's just released a retrospective clip of what kept him busy in 2010, but first, here's one I've missed - 'Transformation':

Directed by: Theo Prodromidis
Music by: Silly Boy - Time is all mine, The Milfettes - Boygirl

What follows is not exactly your usual fashion clip. It's Holy's 2010, a year in moments, parties and posters, in 'Fast Forward':

Directed by: Efthimis Kusemund
Music by: Felizol (Featuring The Boy) - Helen on the dock of the bay

This shoot had to be included

Realised it quite late, nevertheless this shoot had be included in 2010's index of mine. Here's a summer memory, before this year comes to an end. Ino Mei for Epifanios S/S 10. Photos by Ilias Tsepas.
