Glasscapes Opening

Irene Matinopoulou is having the official opening of her studio, Glasscapes, and everyone is invited.

Anything that can be made from glass, she makes it, whether it is wearable art or things that could make a home warmer and more colourful. Irene, first introduced here, spends hours at her workspace, giving shape to some very imaginative, handmade glasswork.

In her last bazaar, I got these pink sous-verts, a perfect match to my pink-ish kitchen...

But she does more than sous-verts...

If you appreciate unique clothes and unique accessories, I guess unique home decs is the next step and this opening is a good start.

What do you mean I'm too old?

Yesterday's post of Kingdom of Style put me into trouble. They discovered the Little Fashion Gallery of Le Tour De Force and since I laid eyes on it I am moving my mouse back and forth from "add to shopping bag". Ahh... These would never fit me, would they now?

I am such a fool for hair pieces. This is my fav, bought a few years ago in Topshop, Oxford Circus. It may not be as impressive, but it sure fits me and makes quite a statement when one needs to be made:)

Hats Anthology by Stephen Jones

You still have time. Stephen Jones' breathtaking hats exhibition will be open at the V&A museum in London till May 31st.

"Drawn from V&A and international collections and ranging in style and period from a 17th-century Puritan’s hat to a 1950s Balenciaga couture piece to hats by Jones and his contemporaries including to the latest creations by young milliners such as Noel Stewart, the exhibition investigates the cultural and historic importance of millinery". from V&A online.

The exhibition is split into four areas: Inspiration, Creation, The Salon and The Clients (amongst which, Audrey Hepburn, Anna Piaggi and Ditta Von Teese).

Hosted at The Porter Gallery, with tickets ranging between £5 for adults and £4 for seniors, students, 12-17 yrs and ES40 Holders. Gift-shop looks interesting too;)

Maroula, Unique & Hidden

I am as fed up of uniform-wear as I am of uniform-accessorizing. Discovering Maroula's showroom made me particularly happy for that reason.

She's a relatively new kid in town (her atelier's doors are open for the last year or so) and even though she designs numbered, unique items and has full studies in Athens and London on jewellery creation and precious stones, she makes sure she does beautiful stuff for every budget.

"Unique" and "Made With Love" were the keywords that won me over. My obsession with nice, clean and imaginative wrapping gave her a place in my favourites too, especially as she does it all herself, from scratch.

Her atelier/showroom is well hidden on the second floor of Fokionos 8 & Ermou str. so I felt I should tip you off on this one. If you are anywhere close to Syntagma these days, this is one visit you won't regret.

Ugg fit all

Here's something I had never thought of doing with all the extra space the Uggs leave wasted and unexploited: use it as a purse/holder. Thanks to dear Viv for letting me share her creativity here.

*I think this is going to be the last shot of winter shoes for a while. Temperature is rising...

Play. The Kitsuné Maison Way.

Kitsuné Maison are releasing their seventh compilation (The Lucky One) end of this coming May. (I like Kitsuné Maison). Their promo video is SUCH a great idea for games at home. (Preferably with BF, whether that means BoyFriend or Best Friend).

Fun:

a. Choose your favourite CD.
b. Equal number of outfits to the number of tracks for each player.
c. Now hit the play button and start dressing like mad.
d. Whoever finishes first obviously wins the round and switches over to the next track.

All this dressing and undressing... Week nights at home will never be the same again. Enjoy.

Vivienne Tam for HP

Going through this week's issue of Athens Voice, this has come to my attention:

It is HP Vivienne Tam Special Edition advert for their super-thin, XS laptop, featuring a 10,1" BrightView Infinity screen, built in web cam and Home Windows XP, complete with a pocket and a matching mouse. For the Greeks, available at plaisio.gr. Cute. The NY based designer Tam chose to decorate it with Peony, a flower-symbol of China, to imply the connection between the eastern and western world. Tam, who opened her house in 1994, based the colours on her Fall collection (see here).

(screenshot from Tam's website)

In any case, this is one stylish thing to carry around with you, retailing at approx. 465 euros. Found this brief review on youtube, check it out:
