Parking Wall

Photobucket
This is what the parking's wall at Karitsi Square, Athens, looks like these days. Any idea what's it for? Haven't got a clue but I like the colour on this massive block of cement.

Maria Mastori - New Website

MASTORI*MOTWARY STUDIO is proud to announce the launching of www.mariamastori.com designed by Thois Motwary. [source]

Group hug

Out for a drink and I'm faced with this tee - owner confirms it's BSB. Around half past late, friend wants to know what's it about. Clearly it's about loving a bunch of folks called Stella, Tom, Marc and Viv.

Dry socks

Since Monday started with this, allow me to shock you with my socks:
My old Happy Socks, still looking happy as new after a year and a half. And obviously they go through a lot.

And these are my new ones, currently keeping me and my feet happy.
What's with the blow-dryer? Come on, don't tell me you were never in a hurry to get your socks dry! This will give you dry socks in less than 2 minutes but a) socks must not be soaking wet - you don't want to be electicuted and b) you have to start and stop the blow-dryer every few seconds or it may burn out - ok, it's not made for drying socks.

Cyber Monday at Tsantilis

Today is not any Monday, it's Cyber Monday*, and Tsantilis eshop has sent me a reminder, as well as the announcement that they are joining the concept with a 20% off all e-sales. Sharing:
*Piece of stats for you: Cyber Monday started in the U.S. in 2005. It was first used in France in 2008, then Portugal followed in 2009. German version of Amazon is giving it a go this year and I guess Tsantilis is the first to introduce it in Greece.

Happy Socks by Giles Deacon

Giles Deacon and Happy Socks have joined forces in creating some special pairs. Not exactly news as this has been circulating the web for about a month now, but with their launch approaching (beginning of December) I thought I might stir it back to the surface. The limited edition collaboration, with obvious references to the Brit designer's past collections, will offer a minimum 25% of the retail price earnings to the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

A pair for each day of the week is inside the specially made boxes. Only 1000 of these will be available for sale at selected selling points as well as online at www.happysocks.com .

xmas shopping list 2010

[click to enlarge, save as, print A4]

Ta-ta! This year's edition of my xmas shopping list (personal saviour) is ready. Whether they involve money spending or not, last minute gifts are a pain so this is what I've come up with to tackle this very important issue:) This way I leave none out and stick to budget. Too early? No it's not, especially if you are planning to shop online - think delivery times. Feel free to use it, you'll thank me later.

*There's a slight change from last year's list: 'Done' column is now 'money left', which makes more sense. Ol' strike-through is unbeatable + maths was never my strong point!

Miss Sixty's xmas windows

If you are a fellow window shopping junky, it's the time of the year you can sing halleluja and walk for your fix: xmas windows are on. Here's what the 'Xmas Window Kit' for Miss Sixty looks like, as captured in Glyfada:
(That last bit is an oversize fringe clutch that caught my eye, xmas decs aside)

Merry Xmas to you too guys - more merry windows coming soon.

Bar comedy on Sunday

Photobucket
It's only a few hours before Ooh! La! La! kicks off and yesterday was a good day to pay rehearsals a visit. I tell you this bar comedy is avenging all childhood fairytales that hunted your adult life with their perfect happy endings. Sleeping Beauty waited too long for prince charming to find her and blow that kiss and now he's marrying someone else. Hell, I knew it all along, nothing good could come out of so much sleep! Snow White and Cinderella get the treatment too. Nevertheless, it all resumes to an ending that's, well, happy!
A "kinky" fairytale for grown-up kids (see wow shoes courtesy of EroSart sex shop), had to be told where they frequent around bedtime and that's Swing Bar, Gazi. It was fun watching a play at such unconventional settings. Bar comedy is a close cousin to stand-up and I can say I like the family. It's direct, casual and always a safe laugh with the bar at close distance:)
(can't get over the headspeaker, have put down a request for it come the end of the season)
Ooh! La! La! starts this Sunday, November 28th at 21:00, a good excuse to end this weekend among friends, booze and a laugh at those lucky ducks that used to get the prince by default. Here's a shout out by the cast:

Carnival - Celebrity Skin

Celebrity Skin's costumes for ooh! la! la! performance are the stars of their first fashion video themed 'Carnival'. The clip, created by Nectario Karolos Papazacharias, is also a taste of CS's shoot for Fiasco magazine, soon to be released. Hit play, this is good stuff.

Oversize bobbins chez LAK Piraeus

More crafts-inspired decorations at shop windows. This time it's the LAK store in Piraeus, taken over by enormous bobbins. The neoclassical building it's all hosted at significantly adds to the biggger picture.

Gaetano Pesce for Melissa

Let me be the first to share that Gaetano Pesce's limited edition shoe for Melissa is coming to town. As a matter of fact, it will be available in very few and selected concept stores around the world, one of which is SHOP at Ermou, Athens.

The reknown Italian architect, artist and designer who lists Osaca's famous Organic Building among his achievements, worked closely with Melissa in creating this bootie that will unleash the diy ma(on)ster in you. The discs it consists of are connected in a way that can be easily cut with a pair of scissors in order to create your very own pump, sandal or any other design your creative mind can think of.

Pesce said he wanted to explore the potential of a shoe that offers the option of "post-customization". Indeed he's given us a playground.

FF Thought #12

There must be so many boutiques I've never walked in in Athens. This one I came across because there was a very rare... parking spot right outside it at Anthimou Gazi street. Obviously a very old tailor shop, with six digit phone number still at the window. And a half price sign. There must be so many boutiques I've never walked in in Athens.

Kilometres of yarn and essie inside

A window with so much yarn could never go unnoticed, let alone by a knitter:
It's the Toi&moi current windows, as captured at Glyfada's store:
And a piece of news on Toi&moi: nail varnish darling essie has teamed up for the first time with a Greek brand, making it's winter colours available at Toi&moi stores till end of December and/or while stock lasts. Sweet.

It was Lagerfeld at her feet

That's no random shoe at Ino Mei's feet in this poster.
It's Lagerfeld Gallery, s/s 01 (if we all remember well today).

And it's a love story: student Ino was back then flicking through French glossy Jalouse when the catwalk image stood out. She had to have them, she turned on the back page store directory. She actually called the Lagerfeld boutique in Paris. They actually had one last pair in her size. Something like a year's pocket money in drachma was instantly bank transferred and came back as the object of her 2001 summer desire. She still remembers the smell of unworn leather upon opening the box. Those shoes still look impressive, still at her feet, good as new.

Living happily ever after with the one (pair) you fell in love with is indeed a happy end - in fashionland and beyond.

Metalla - the battle, the poster

Saturday, December 11th 2010 at Swing Bar, Athens, free entrance.
That's where the battle between blow-your-mind Greek anthems and rock-you-hard heavy metal is going to take place. Guilty as charged, Elias Fragoulis and Ino Mei.
Ok, me too for shamelessly sponsoring this.
Invite yourselves HERE.

There was hair-pulling at the poster's shoot and I can prove it:
