Where was your shoe made in?

By now you already know that I am very interested in the made in tags of my clothes and what each purchase means because of that, besides looking good. I admit I was never too picky on this matter with shoes, mainly because when it comes to that, there is only one rule: they have to make my feet happy. Yesterday though, I was choosing a pair of shoes for a very particular shoot and all of a sudden I became very curious on where my final selection was made in:

Topshop

MARNI

Sante

I was (happily) surprised:
a) My affordable Topshop shoes were made in Italy, the queen of shoe makers in my opinion - no wonder they are so comfy and have survived my lifestyle for the last 4 years.
b) MARNI produces locally. You know I support that. (remember this?)
c) Sante produces locally too, in Greece! I thought shoe making had become extinct on this side of the world.

For some reason, now I like them all a bit more.
Do you know where your shoes were made in?

Unfortunately, I see "Made in Greece" a lot less often lately. But I believe that Spain is taking over from Italy as the premium shoe manufacturers of Europe. And I have a post coming up to prove it!

More often than not my shoes are made in Spain. The shoe market is not taken over by made in China goods(yet) so when the shoe is leather there is high chance it was made in a Spain or Portugal. I came to notice this after years of serious shopping!!
Nice post, and Lopi I can't wait to read yours as well!

i actually got off my couch to go check my shoes, lol. found a variation of "made in" as expexted. a pair of cheap old navy loafers and a pair of not so cheap dkny boots were both made in china, and both are extremely comfortable. so i didn't end up to any conclusion...

made in china does not necessarily mean 'of bad make', each company has certain standards and trains workers accordingly.

what bothers me though is that they produce for a fraction of the price they then sell to us and at the same time force local craftsmanship to extinction.

on top, the further away a product has come from, the more the damage to the environment (gas consumption, pollution, etc.)
