Here's where the tootsies came from (see previous post). Full image of 'Designers Remix' show at London Fashion Week. Face behind the brand, Danish designer Charlotte Eskildsen. Pedi is not the only reason this show got my attention.
Not only it's the first time a Danish designer is on the official schedule, but she also showed some very interesting 3D takes of the LBD, with origami hints. Ol' little black dress is finally looking new in this volume and shape, plus the lack of neck pieces has grown on my after an intense statement necklace summer.
Charlotte Eskildsen:
And who is this about to take her front row seat? That's right, it's Marina & the Diamonds sporting a rather dark lipstick, on a rather bright smile. Apparently, the Greek-Welsh 'diamond' is a fan of this newcomer too.

Psyched shade of cement
This is 'Sew Psyched' nail lacquer from essie's Autumn/Winter 10 palette and it's a winner. I'm on a mission to make my nails turn this mouse-y grey, especially after seeing it on the feet of some model at London's recent Fashion Week. 'Cement' someone important messaged me upon sight. Well, 'psyched' or 'cement', right now it looks sweet.

Beyond Dress Codes - exhibition
'Beyond Dress Codes' is an exhibition about to open its doors at the Hellenic American Union Galleries. In accordance to the theme, it demonstrates that traditional Greek costume should not be regarded as the antiquated contents of museum showcases, but instead a creation of timeless interest that continues to serve as a source of inspiration.
In an attempt to create a “dialogue” between traditional Greek dress and contemporary fashion, creations by Jean-Paul Gaultier and John Galliano will be on show, as well as by other distinguished Greek fashion designers such as Angelos Bratis, Dimitris Dassios, Deux Hommes, Yiorgos Eleftheriades, Ioannis Guia, Sofia Kokosalaki, Thanos Kyriakides, Mastori*Motwary, MiRo, Orsalia Parthenis.
Curated by the fashion historian Lydia Kamitsis / Sketches of traditional Greek costumes by sketch artist Gissis Papageorgiou.
From 27.09.2010 - 27.10.2010
Hellenic American Union Galleries, #22 Massalias str., Athens
Free Admission

Mary Katrantzou s/s 11 @ LFW
Loved it. Have got to share:
And as much as I appreciate edited clips that respect my eardrums, I must say I find a certain something in impromptu clips that include the actual sound of the show:
Trademark, balanced saturated graphics, fringe details that enhance the movement effect, short lentghs and sky high platforms for maximum leg projections. Hundreds of details to focus on... Play the video, pause the video, adore. Then play again...
Have been doing so all day.

Today in Athens
Hello and happy Monday nine-to-fivers and everybody else. There's a couple of important, beyond fashion things starting today, in Athens (one's ending tomorrow mind you) so here they go:
1. Fashion Targets Breast Cancer Hellas will be at Syntagma Metro Station, ready to inform you about the prevention of breast cancer and provide free checks. Regular checks could save lives so if in Athens do stop by and see how it's done. Also, press conference at 13:00 - same location. Stay informed / support FTBC here.
2. Medecines Sans Frontiers or Doctors Without Borders are marking 20 years of humanitarian action with a photography exhibition at Taf, The Art Foundation (Normanou 5, Monastiraki). Eight photographers will be exhibiting captions from the organization's work in countries including Irak, Ethiopia and Yemen, there will be video projections, archive material and as well as music: Gagjo Dilo Gypsy Swing Live (13/9, 21.30) and Just Brass Quintet (19/9, 21.30). Stay informed / support MSF here.

1st Fashion Business Forum
Monday, October 25th - Athens, Greece.
Expect no catwalk there. This forum is about fashion being more than a beautiful dress, in times of recession, globalization and rather complex consumer behaviour evolving around a new vocabulary. "Recessionism", "frugalistas", "chiconomics" are all new terms that determine what we ask of the fashion industry today. Speakers that know this best:
Colin McDowell
Sunday Times, Senior Fashion Writer

style.com can move it
New York fashion week is on till the 16th and like each season, the next best thing to a front row seat is seating in front of your laptop, watching front row shots at style.com only hours after the actual show has taken place.
But you already know this. This season though, the fashion giant took things a mind blowing step ahead: you can watch each and every outfit Alexander Wang send down the catwalk, in motion!
I can't see this feature on any other show and I can't even begin to imagine the video editing speed one (or ten)would have to reach to do them all in due time, however this feature is so alive, I can only say RESPECT.

This is not how you recycle clothes
At my neighbourhood's recycle bin.
Does this look like garbage to you dear neighbours?
At least you chose a symbolic bin to place them next to, the recycling one. I wonder, do you now expect them to come back as a sparkling new coat?
And on this happy note, Swap-Not-Shop goes to Crete.
Check it out you guys with Cretan IPs.
(And you, dear neighbours. This is how you recycle clothes. Blue bins are for glass-tins-paper, ok?)

Originally fake
With the Chanel logo's edible version still on the screen from the previous post, here's an interesting follow-up:A top featuring Chanel's CCs, shouting FAKE. Fake Chanel it may be, but it's an original...something. So would it be safe to get the message 'if you can't have the original wear an obvious fake'? Then again, why on earth can't you have an original Chanel if you can afford this**? Interesting confusion going on, just wanted to share.
*currently at the window of Eleins, Piraeus.
**judging from the usual price range of the store, this original-Chanel-fake must cost something close to... an original-Chanel-original.

Alecca is two
I didn't have a birthday cake. If I did though, it would look like this, created ideally by the hands of someone like Jenny. (hope it's thick chocolate fudge inside)
This blog has been around for two whole years now.
This blog is now two.
Update 11/09/10:
Thought on the cake: I wouldn't walk around in Chanel total looks but in this case, I wouldn't mind eating them.
Also: [space reserved for the little blog 'birthday' speech I am supposed to be making. It will come up when the words in my brain go in the right order]
Words always in the right order: this blog would only be half as special to me had it not been for all of you special people reading it.

Evangelos Kavathas - A/W 10
With the dates of the next fashion weeks announced, thought I might sizzle the mood. Shots and clip are from Evangelos Kavathas A/W 10 show last March, and since Autumn/Winter 10 is now, so now is this collection.
Holding the precious guest list at the door, Margarita-looking-hot-Gourgourini. (read what it was like for her here)
Seating hero Spiros Zanias and (the stylish back of) Fashion Paths.
Shots from Kavathas' first personal show themed 'Fragile' by professional fashion photographer Patricia Munster.
Front row-ers Life Full of Fashion (her report on the show), designer Dimitris Petrou, journalist & blogger Dimitris Papadopoulos and The Soho Symposium (her report on the show).
And last but not least, a show is never over before these moments take place:
