FWA - day2, people

I thought this time I am gonna get it right. I am going to wear something loose and comfy, yet "designer" and interesting. So I went for my Katerina Alexandraki dress from the "Supermarket" collection (s/s 09). Heavy elastic cotton was perfect for hardcore catwalk attending and the frilled back -not visible here- gave it just the fashion twist I wanted. My H&M booties kept me on my feet for hours and battled bravely with the brick grounds of Technopolis and instead of a handbag I took my Eastpak mini-bag from the DRKSDW collection. No stylistic excitement, but it wasn't me who had to stylisticly excite:)

People I came across:
Designers Frida Karadima and Dimitris Strepkos (1/2 of Celebrity Skin) showing off his new tatoo. If there was an Oscar for catwalk commentating I'd give it to Strepkos, hands down.

Fashion blogger Christiana from Fashion Paths shooting some excellent pictures from the front row.

Alfredo Saltiel, in charge of the showroom of Katerina Alexandraki and the brand Julia Bergovich right above the "Night Boutique".

Drop by, why don't you

The other day I was in Kifisia and I thought I might aswell drop by Frida Karadima's atelier. Got her right in the middle of a fitting, which I was allowed to watch. Great!

It's no secret I am a big fan of her summer collection 'fluorescent' and I keep looking for a good excuse to bring one of those dresses home: a wedding, a graduation, a reunion, the Oscars, ANYTHING. Seeing and touching the clothes I had seen on the models of her SS 09 show only confirmed they are flawless.

Still, the fitting was really intriguing... What was it for? Well Frida has been invited to show her collection as a representative of the Greek fashion scene at our embassy in Serbia on June 13th and she was perfecting some new designs.

What she makes is no walk in the park. The details that make each dress so special require particular skill and patience to come out this perfect: spotless hems, unmistakable seams, amazing fit. I was impressed.

Frida is almost always at her atelier. How about that! You can just walk in and meet the designer in person. 'Can anyone just walk in and meet you?' I asked, standing there myself. 'Of course!' said the very sweet, down to earth young designer, 'it is always nice to meet like minded souls and talk about fashion'.

I tell you, being at the designer's own space is much more intense than going through endless rails of merchandise.

In case you want to drop by too, Frida's showroom is at Diom. Kyriakou 16 & Drosini and you can reach her on +30 210 62 31 956.

Frida's Bazaar

Excuse the absense, things have been hectic.
For those of you in Athens, there's one bazaar coming up you don't wonna miss out on:
Frida's winter collection was one of my favs this winter. Bright orange was a great choice for an otherwise dark season - in every sense. This sale was much anticipated. Enjoy.

Fluorescent Feet

As of today, it's officially The Sales Period in Greece. Em... I feel totally ungrateful as my "can't-wait-for-sales" excitement has suddenly become "can't-wait-for-Spring-collections".

I was sorting out My Documents, when I came across my pictures from last Hellenic Fashion Week. And there they were, Frida Karadima's semi-wedge fluorescent peep-toes. I liked them with her Summer designs and as part of Al Giga's whole fluorescent art directional concept, but I thought that Frida in total black, totally rocked them!

Then a few weeks later, my friend Sandra wore them for the very first alternative catwalk at the Fox Fair, Athens. She fell in love with them too and since then we are on a mission to make them ours.

Is it Spring yet? Is it Spring yet? Is it Spring yet? ...
