Jewellery-making tutorial - Athens

A "Jewellery Lab / Seminar" by Christina Aggelopoulou (Strigles) and Marianna Kontoe (Powertex) is set for Sunday, 22/01/12. Includes detailed tutorials on making jewellery elements and knitting brooches to making a complete handmade jewel. Suitable for beginners but more advanced creative souls too. For limited number of participants (currently a couple short so if interested, contact them asap).

Strigles Craftcrime s/s 12 collection is ready. So ready actually as it is about to be presented to retail buyers the next few days at 'Contemporary Creations' Exhibition (13-16/01/12). 'Housewives in Action' is an innovative collection of accessories made by domestic goddesses' weapons of choice. Your sponge wire never looked this cute.

Strigles for kids

Being a mother made her imagination bloom. Or maybe she's had it with her daughter stealing her shoes and accessories! 'Strigles Craftcrime' designer, Christina Aggelopoulou, has launched a colourful collection for kids, 'Striglitses'. Modelling for the catalogue, her beautiful child and muse, Divina. How sweet is this? She's got the look.
Oh, and this one is for you mama(s). The funkiest pop galore shoulderpad-brooch I've ever seen:
Handmade too. I bet if it went down some international catwalk on a t-shirt, it would be circulating fashion exhibitions by next season.

I always place a lucky charm on the tree and this year's is special since it was offered with love and good vibes. Ornament made by Strigles. Four days to Christmas.

Antwerpen meet Strigles & Kores

Ok Belgian readers, two very colourful and creative accessories designers will be bringing sunshine your way at Hobby Creatief Salon, between the 27 and 28th of November. Strigles (above) and Kores (below) are loading their bags as we speak with their most unique winter designs, hand-made in Greece. If your location is Antwerp next weekend, check them out! -Hall 1, 10am - 6pm.

Strigles @ Benaki Museum

Quick note to share some great news: as of today, Strigles accessories are the latest addition of the Benaki Museum - Athens lounge store. Absolutely 'made in Greece' souvenirs you can actually wear is an idea I like a lot and this Museum has been investing on it for quite a while now. More on this at a future post.

It's raining, wear boots

Officially time for rain-boots then and Strigles has quite some pairs for the job this season.

At times when 'made in' tags and 'care directions' labels are totally on the spotlight in many ways, Strigles accessories' designer Christina Aggelopoulou chose to use them as the core material for parts of her collection. The result? So cute!
Some extra info: Christina insisted her production is made of locally produced tags. Thumbs up for the thought.

There's no better way to spend a Sunday to having tons of unexpected work to deal with, going to the Meet Market and catching up with friends. Sadly, this time it was a walk-in, walk-out for me, but seeing Christina of Strigles Craftime pumped me up with positive energy (and my wish-list with a pair of well made, cork pumps).
Strigles' boutonnieres blossoming on that mannequin. Actually, paste them on a dress and you get quite the couture piece for Spring, don't you think?
Between muah-muah hello and see-you-soon goodbye, I couldn't help noticing the grass carpet it all seemed to magically grow out of. And the waffle ring of course. Too cute and me, too hungry.
And hand-made rag earings clipped on vertically growing grass. The detail on those flowers. Quite appropriately placed there actually! Are we feeling Spring yet?

Tell a Story - Strigles

TaS may be over as of last night but my finds are not just yet! Christina Aggelopoulou is 'Strigles'. Featured above right with fellow accessories designer Irini Spinou, she has a bubbly, colourful style in the Brazilian sense.

Vibrant reds, greens and yellows splashed on flat pumps, flip-flops, rings, bracelets, necklaces, you name it. All designed and handmade by her , decorated with anything from juicy slices of watermelon to her trademark laminated fabrics.

Everything was so special and had such a Summer feel-good vibe, I instantly felt like pina coladas and long walks on the beach. Quite an effect don't you think? 'Strigles' is officially on my hot list!

(Actually, she has been since this interview for Life in Athens back in October - I remember wanting that brooch badly:))
