The... Kenzo Bug!

On my way to Laduree, I came across the shop windows of the Kenzo store. Had to take a picture of their spring decorations. You don't really notice it at first.......then you move a bit closer...
...and oh my! These are so...yuck! Bugs, bugs, very realistic, scary, dream-haunting bugs! WHO conceived this decor, for real.
However, I forgive them. Kenzo Spring Collection rocks! So fresh.
And today's award for a Fabulous Blog goes to:
Chloe from Chloe in The Sky With Diamonds. This is so fresh too. New at fash-blogging but of great taste, already a daily read.

Chloe, your blog is fabulous! Please see here the 5 simple steps this award involves;)

Last Monday

Here's one of the sweetest messages I've received in a while, sent to me by my mate as she left for work last Monday at 7ish in the morning, in Paris:
It reads: "open the window-it's snowing!"
And indeed it was. A beautiful sight to me, who doesn't often get to see snow in Athens...
Can't say I had the right clothes for the occassion with me though! Was not expecting that! (won't be posting outfit details in this one, unless someone wants to know something in particular. Since the last post I am trying to decide if naming the brands offers anything to promoting original style besides promoting...the actual brands. Do let me know what you think on this.)
And how could I be prepared: this is what the athenean sky looked like the day I left (today also by the way).
So, back to this award...
Laroux tagged me about a week ago, so today I am choosing to pass this award to Jen from Mahalo Fashion.
Jen, please find instructions on what to do here. I find your blog so cool, don't think anybody does more accurate, up-to-date and complete reports on events and faces!
*How appropriate, in her latest post she's talking about awards too. The Grammys that is!

72 euros can buy...

So here's what 72 euros bought me at a Mark by Mark Jacobs store:
No kidding... Especially about the "protect the skin you are in" tee i'm particularly proud of, knowing I've somehow helped the research towards the prevention and cure of skin cancer. Coming from a sunny country like Greece is, I am very aware and keen on the matter.

However, having bought all these MJ labeled stuff for this price, and as much as I liked being able to afford them, I cannot help but noticing the..."cheapness" of it all! I mean great, Marc Jacobs is not really known for invention and creation but rather for being inspired by street markets and being rather commercial. But buying a designer bag for 22 euros?

Am I really buying Marc Jacobs or am I simply funding his business with all I can afford? And if I am buying MJ then how should someone buying the less affordable line under the same signature feel? Do our buys have the same credit? All these questions....

Anyways. Just before I left for Paris, I got an award!

Laroux of Clothes Before Hoes finds my blog is fabulous and I am truly honoured to be receiving this by someone whose blog I follow and admire! The rules for accepting this, as featured in Laroux's post, are:
1. Put the logo on your blog or post.
2. Nominate at least 10 blogs which you think are fabulous.
3. Be sure to link to your nominees within your post.
4. Let them know that they have received this award by commenting on their blog.
5. Share the love and link to this post and to the person from whom you received your award.

Laroux decided to nominate just 5, one blog at a post. I will do all 10 (!), np, but will keep the one-blog-at-a-post system, so the blogs I nominate as "fabulous" get the attention they trully deserve.
First of all, let me pass this on to Lopi, I am a big fan of her blog and I really like her style! Check it out: Fashion Architect.

Saturday in Laduree

It's the weekend! I have no idea how I'm spending this one, but here's where I was the last , just like Carrie Bradshaw: Laduree, the patisserie across the church of Madeleine, Paris.
I was not alone and miserable like her though (aw, what an episode that was!), but eating away happily with my friend and having the best coffee in the city. Took a picture of my dish but then tried it and there was no way I would stop and think about taking any more pics in there. I literally ate a piece of art!! -in every sense.
I've never thought of using the words "stylish" and "dessert" in the same sentence before, but tell me, what do you call this?? Chocolate macaroons covered in gold! yummy? I don't know. The qeue to buy some on our way out was too long and they would not allow us to buy take away whilst sitted. (grrr)
So we ended up with these, equally velvety and delicious, bought by the Dalloyau department from the Lafayette Gourmet floor. I swear they put some magic potion in those macaroons in France, nothing tastes like them!
Too scared to try the last one, it was shimmering silver and i was miles away from home... you understand!

So that was last Saturday... Let's see what this one brings.

Have a sweet weekend!

p.s. Memory lane anyone? :))

Shop Windows in Paris

Or at least the ones I was particularly interested in. In this post, Marc by Marc Jacobs - Place Du Marche Saint-Honore and Colette - Rue Saint-Honore. There was no way I would leave Paris without visiting those;)

The Marc by Marc Jacobs store is at the corner of the square Du Marche Saint-Honore, at the opposite side of the American Apparel store (which I raided but will show off the trophies at another post). At first glance I just noticed the huge peace symbol but coming closer... remember this post? I got so excited, I must have walked in in such a rush, that the security guard decided to hunt me throughout my visit.

Prices were crazy (=ultra affordable). Will be showing you soon what I made out of them. Coral pink and bright yellow seem to be the colours of choice here for this spring.
Next stop was the legendary Colette, with a brand new window (the changed it the night before).

These drummer girls are wearing Tao by Comme Des Garcones. Navy blue is the colour of choice for Paris at the moment. Colette is such a great boutique of special little things, from books to accessories, to shoes not to mention cosmetics and hair products. Everything in there seems to be some special or limited edition, speaking of which, let me tell you that the Jeremy Scott line for Adidas will be available there in two weeks from now (so no joy for me there).
The main reason I went there was to get as close to this pair of Marc Jacobs sandals as possible. For 650 euros though I realised I could buy about 10 pairs of Marc by Marc Jacobs rain boots or pay for another three visits to Paris return (croissants included) and decided to pause this buy. For as long as I can anyway since I could still buy them online here. After hours of walking through all the different levels of the shop, I decided that what I needed and at the same time could afford was James Brown's new hair products (James Brown as in Kate Moss' hairdresser and not the singer, as the sales advisor stressed out in a very cute french-english accent).

Having tried them, I can now tell you they are worth the hype. I thought they did wonders to my very long, punished by the freezing parisian wind, super-dry hair. The bag was interesting so I brought it back with me. Not sure what my friends will think of the gifts I bought them, I sure do hope I'm in the dark blue area!!
I wish I'd found more stuff I liked in there but my budget range clashed with my speed in grabbing ltd ed. tees in my size as well as my taste and timing within the season. In other words? Expensive taste, slow shopper and should visit again in March!

o-la-la Lafayette!

Galleries Lafayette must be one of my favourite destinations each time I visit Paris. I love walking up and down the theatrical windows when shops are closed, fantasising I live in them. I so enjoy going through each and every department when they are open, being served by advisors that truly make me feel special. I adore the little stands outside that create a festive atmosphere all year round. Each time I' m there, I forget about the rest of the world...
Celine Red birds for SpringChristian Dior Christian Dior (yours for 6,500 euros)

And of course, French women, stylish at every age. This lady here particularly impressed me. My grandma does not ride this, does not wear hot pink and sure as hell does not wear jeans. When I grow old... I want to be French.

Ce Que J'Aime Chez Barbie

Quick post: This season's badge is pink. So cute. What is even better, is the special exhibition across the main hall, celebrating "Les Accessoires De Barbie". These are some of my favourite.
