Theia corset boutique

Last Thursday Theia held the opening of her first corset boutique (Ippokratous 66, Athens) and The Soho Symposium was there. That's one piece of good news these days. Wishing her all the best.

Atelier

Oxford Street Selfridges window, 20/10/2005.
According to the theme of the season, "Atelier", the megastore decorators had recreated corners of the ateliers of fashions most influencing designers. This was McQueen's. Large mood-boards, stashes of fabric and his creation centred and imposing like his work has always been in fashion. Some say it's best to leave when your star is still shining. Today, we all wish it wasn't so.

Alexander McQueen, R.I.P.

This morning, Lee Alexander McQueen allegedly took his own life aged 40. The fashion world is shocked. The fashion world is just not the same. May he rest in peace.

This is a sweet taste from Thessaloniki based designer Efharis' S/S 10 collection. Prints and colour are meant to be big this Spring and Efharis sure is up for that! Her full collection images are expected to be released later this week on her website and, well, here so keep an eye on both.

Starstyling fashion pots

Confused about what you're seeing?
In days when cool boutiques are meant to look like a boudoir or the most minimal of spaces, Berlin brand "Starstyling" went for a garden. During her recent trip to the German capitol, accessories designer Katerina Georgoudaki (aka Sugar Line Productions) visited the store and felt it was worth sharing. Well so do I.

You can't help but notice that what's growing out of these pots is strictly green. Maybe that's because among them it's carefully stashed clothes popping like blossoms in vibrant Spring hues.

"Mocking fashion's strict aesthetics, it emphasizes it's volatility instead, resulting in a colourful signature of revolt and play. Serious? Never. Fun? Always!" is how it's put in the brand's profile. Starstyling is Katja Schlegel and Kai Seifried.

No worries if you are not visiting Berlin any time soon, there is a "webshop" : future-retro sunvisors, cotton t-shirts and dresses with statement prints, lots of fringed goodness - sadly, no plants. You can also watch the s/s 10 show at Berlin Fashion Week, here.

Sunday Warm Woolies

Today balcony view suggested I stay in and stay warm. It's Sunday so it's allowed. Brought coffee to boil and wrapped up warm in woolies. Literally. A shawl worn over shoulders and then tied in x-shape behind your back makes quite a cozy cape.
Sofa, here I come.

They hacked into... NY Fashion Week lists

...and got busted! Earlier in 2009 snapped by the Sartorialist, stylish Vermont teens Remy Renzullo and Becca Shumlin (daughter of Vermont State Senate President Peter Shumlin who is running for governor) managed to hack into the system of BPCM (PR agency for shows of Alexander Wang and Preen among others) and get their names on the NY fashion week lists. What gave them away was this (silly? clever?) request for Herchcovitch' show:

"Hi [so&so],
This is Remy Renzullo, requesting an invitation for Alexandre Herchcovitch's Fall/Winter 2010 show. I work as a freelance stylist, currently working with the future first lady, Deborah Shumlin, of Vermont for the campaign trail and hopefully elected office. More information can be found here: http://www.shumlinforgovernor.com. In addition I have been signed on to contribute to a new fashion magazine, FUTURE. I would love to have seats or standing if available for myself and Rebecca Shumlin, the magazine's editor-in-chief and daughter of the future governor and, myself. Apparently, the show crashers had done it all before, back in September, obviously without getting caught. Despite being detected and "named", they are not at all "shamed" as there are hundreds of posts circulating the web right now saying "Remy/ Becca be my friend". (Don't know what this means for Beccas dad though)
