FWA 27/03

Day 1, Makis Tselios, Kathy Heyndels. Arrived late, Tselios' show was packed, my pics were crap so I owe you. At Heyndels' I went early so here's what I have to share:

Clearly there was an issue with my camera, settings & lights so lets call my shots arty (=shakey and amateur).

Creative direction by Al Giga. Thought show was fresh and alive. Will elaborate at a future post.Front row lovelies: designer Frida Karadima and on her left, stylist Dimitris Strepkos who'll be making his debut as a designer with collection "Celebrity Skin" (along with Eleni Barla) in this coming Athens Xclusive Designers Week.

Ah... Technopolis' ground, comprising of tiles placed with wide spaces between them. What a killer for those who wear heels at Fashion Week. (who doesn't?) Invites should be coming with a warning.

Fashion Week Tonight

Today is the official opening of Fashion Week Athens #9. Went for a walk there yesterday, night boutique (left of the banner) looked rather interesting this time round, will be visiting right after the shows. If in Athens, drop by and check out what's going on in Technopolis.

25th of March is...

...a national holiday for Greece. Celebrating the revolution of 1821 when Greeks broke free from 400 years of Turkish rule. So we parade. (we = students)

This year I went to see the local parade after...dunno how many years - mainly because it is on a Sunday and after the age of 18(?) I failed to wake up on time.

Anyways, yesterday I did. I must say, quite a few things have changed since I was a part of this. The length of skirts for one, not to mention the state of teenage boys (parading in a ...hood? shirts out?)

This was always my favourite part: leaving with best mate.

Oh, on the 25th, we eat fish (this is what's left of mine, I've been good)

In the afternoon I popped in for a beer at my local, decorated totally in line with today's spirit. Just like a classroom, minus Elvis on the wall and alcohol at hand:) I'm getting older...

Euangelia (TellAStory)

What made Tell-A-Story all the more interesting, was bumping into Euangelia's dresses. Volume in interesting shapes, worn on a manequin with the legs of a table was an eye-catcher as it was. The fact that the dress came in perfect seems and easy-to-wear line was a bonus.

She told me her designs have no age, anyone can wear them. "My designs are alternative, for people who are different. They are made for those who know how to wear clothes without letting the actual clothes wear the people". (nicely put, thank you). Euangelia's signature is as unique and intriguing as the clothes she does: dresses, skirts, girls + boys tees that can be worn inside out. And you can be sure they are all literally unique, made once so you can be the proud owner of something none else posesses. Loving it...

She's been designing for the last 3 years which would tag her as "fresh" but also long enough to show she's not another enthusiastic passer-by.

According to Tell-A-Story's release, she has "collaborated with well-known fashion designers and photographers at TV shows, advertisements, fashion shows as well as custom design in theatrical place". She has already presented her work at Athens Xclusive and Fashion Forward.

Fun details: Euangelia's newspaper wrapped bangles, Miss T's and Euangelia's boots, bottom left and top respectively.

This is Euangelia's official business card, hand-written on the spot by her, on pieces of magazine pages. Kinda cool, no?.

Note this name, you'll soon be coming across it too often.

Last Sat at The Fox Fair

Bacaro, last Saturday.
The Fox Fair is back, every Saturday at Sofokleous 1, out in the open (which wasn't so good for last Sat, as it was raining and everyone had to squeeze under the tents but hey, Spring's officially here. How many more wet Sats can there be?)

Just to get things straight, Athens Production's confirmed the pictures from the press kit are samples of the collections to be presented this coming fashion week. MiRo material is missing because they did not have a visual ready for the kit. Their work is worth seeing though so I'll make sure I post a pic or two from their show.
