Outfit details?

Ok, I'm taking a break from publishing pictures from my trip. Today it is going to be outfit, and all my troubled thoughts about brand-dropping in our blogs...
dress: H&M
tights: (haven't got a clue)
hair piece: pull and bear
scarf: accessorize
pendant: my sister's gift from last london fashion weekend
shoes: zara

So here's a question for you: do you think we should be referencing our outfits? I am not going to lie to you, when people do reference, I do check. In real life however, I don't care at all what brands people wear but how they wear them and whether or not I like the outcome.

We can all put on the same zara dress for example, but what is important -and worth blogging about- is how we choose to wear it. Fashion you can buy, style one must possess, as said wisely by Edna Woolman Chase, comprising this blog's raison d' être.

On the other hand, if I see something I like on someone, I want to know what it is. I could always ask you could say to this.

Confused. Please share some thoughts...

Awards time:
Lucia from blog-tales is the 5th blogger I feel I should be passing this on to. Very opinionated, will never give you any "lovely this", "lovely that" for no reason. Quite often she touches subjects I truly wish someone did, like the trend of wearing a keffiyeh which was the first post I read from her and became loyal ever since.
Lucia, here you go, it's yours! Most probably you already know what to do, but in case you don't, click here.

I loved that first picture! Great way to pose in such a confined space.
Regarding the outfit referencing debate, I'm for it. People in the street are restricted to just seeing my outfit, so why not offer more information when you have the means, like a personal style blog? I love reading other people's outfit details, so I think people enjoy it when I give away mine. And if they like what they see, this way they know which shop may carry it.
In my case, it also shows that I really don't like spending too much in labels. When all of my descriptions read ZARA, BERSHKA, MANGO, PULL AND BEAR, it shows that I really don't care that much for luxury brands. That's a big part of my style, and I think it's important for my readers to know.

Congratulations the award! =) You've got a really great blog and you deserve it!

Hmm I'm quite alright with people referencing the items on their blogs because if I really like something they wear and feel it fits my style then I'd want to find out where they got it from to see if it's still available. =) Or in general I like to find out about more labels to discover new styles/collections so I always find it useful when bloggers reference their outfits. Of course style goes beyond the brands you wear but it's no harm sharing them with others especially if you like the clothes from a particular brand.

Thanks for your comment btw! :p I tried that excuse once haha a long time ago with a different scarf and most people just gave me an incredulous look. Aghh I do have to become a lot more shameless. X)

those tights are FANTASTIC!
and your pendant is very very cool :)

i get annoyed when its all about brands; to be honest i dont think it matters where you got your clothes, i think it matters how you wear them.
i mean, take a look at all the girls obsessing over jack wills and the like, it just annoys the chuff out of me because they dont look good.
originality always wins,
just take a look at the hype'd kids on lookbook.nu (even if i'm sure they're all biased)
ps. i'd love to exchange links with you m'love, i'll put you up now!

I dont care about brands themselves (never cared about sth just because is expensive) but I always look , just curious of where each piece is from cause like tis serendipity said maybe I ll like sth. Like when you see a girl on the street wearing sth nice and you re embarrassed to stop her and ask! My fave pic is the last one, it s flattering how you can see some flesh and the shoes are cute!

agree... plus when I see in an outfit pic something really cute and then read it's from h&m for example, well that's always a reminder that style doesn't mean spending money (like most lifestyle magazines urge us to do...)

xmm, "opinionated" means dogmatic-stubborn or it is my idea?
anyway i think i can understand what youre saying :) and thank you for your kind words.

sometimes im wondering if i seem to "straight" , austere or severe, just because i "{never give you any "lovely this", "lovely that" for no reason}" . probably its just not my type of communication..

i will try to think what to do with the award you gave me. I ve got some ideas...be aware...and thanx also for your comments about lifo.

ha:) i feel i have to reply straight away and explain the way i used "opinionated" in my post.

I mean that you have your own opinion about things, you have already decided before you speak, you are not going to sugar-coat it for us, which is a quality i deeply appreciate.

I feel you will only call something "lovely" because you really think so and not just to be polite, this is generally rare.

Hope it is clearer now:)

I love Lucia's blog exactly because she is strongly opinionated and never gives away compliments for no reason. And no way this is a bad thing.

*thx for this comment lopi, that's exactly what i meant;) (thus the award!)

I have tights like that but have never worn them!

I think it depends on the "purpose" of naming brands. If its to let other users know just in case they see something they like, then its okay.

Love your outfit, by the way. :)

those tights <3

I never usually bother writing where my clothes are from, I am 1) too lazy, 2) don't think anyone would want to buy them haha.

Those tights are awesome.
I have to put where my items are from, otherwise I answer 50+ questions every time I post an outfit...and I don't have the patience to e-mail everyone personally!
I like knowing where pieces are from, then if I really like the feel/look I can check out that shop and see other pieces.

Great tights! I love that they lace up the back!
I agree with you on the subject of stating our purchases. It's important not to judge someone becuase of the label they buy but because of how they wear it. I buy clothes super cheap so sometimes I feel bad becuase of the cheap label I'm wearing. But then I realise that a true fashion follower would appreciate the styling more than the price tag. Thank you for bringing this subject up by the way. I think it's necessary to discuss.

look at the crisscross! love it! I like to reference, for example if you wanted to buy the same item, you'd know where to find it. It's nothing to do with branding..
